Course Participation

Netiquette or "network etiquette" is the contemporary term for the proper way users communicate and interact with each other over the Internet.  Since text-based and virtual communication is encouraged in this course, please be careful and considerate in all communications with other colleagues and the course managers. It is difficult to convey tone in an online medium. Consider what will be said and remember that intent might not be inferred by other readers.


General Computer Requirements

  • Access to reliable Internet speeds of 1.5 Mbps download and upload

  • Browser Plug-ins

    • Windows Media Player (or Flip4Mac for Macs)

    • QuickTime

    • Adobe Flash Player

    • Adobe Reader (or Preview for Mac)

    • Java

  • Audio Speakers or Headset

    • Headsets might provide better sound quality

    • Headsets should have microphones

  • Webcam or built-in camera with microphone

  • Microsoft Word, Adobe, or Google Docs for file viewing and downloading

  • Access to printer
