Introduction to Supporting Question 1
The people of North Carolina were impacted by national politics as well as state and local politics. In this section of the module, students will explore the presidencies of George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. They will be encouraged to consider the political issues, both at home and abroad, that defined their presidencies. In addition, students will examine state politics, with a special focus on notable North Carolina politicians including Governor Jim Hunt and Senator Jesse Helms. Students will be asked to consider the impact of politics on the direction the state took at the turn of the 21st century.
