Introduction to Supporting Question 1

This question focuses on the US decision to enter World War 1, a war that had been ongoing for several years before the US joined on April 16, 1917. The sources focus on the process of the war starting with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, through the threats to the US (i.e. the Lusitania and the Zimmerman Telegram) to the struggles that President Wilson dealt with in deciding to take the country to war after strongly speaking for isolation in the past.
