More information can be found here Links to an external site..The aim of this module is to draw students’ attention to the impact of World War I on the people of North Carolina. Although it was a global conflict, the war impacted local communities. North Carolinians contributed to the war effort by serving in combat and working in factories to supply munitions and other supplies. German u-boats were off the coast of the Outer Banks and German POWs were held in North Carolina.
