Below are some ideas for connecting the information in the module to your life as an active citizen in North Carolina:

  • Visit a local Civil War battlefield with a group and explain to them the impact that the war had on their lives in North Carolina today.
  • Write a letter to the editor of a local newspaper/magazine/news website and describe to the readers how North Carolina’s role in the Civil War still effects people today.
  • Create a video about how North Carolina could be different if it had been part of the Union instead of part of the Confederacy. Upload the video to an internet video site.
