Introduction to Supporting Question 1

In this first activity, students will learn more about the background of the Articles of Confederation and the U.S. Constitutional Convention. They will also learn about the conventions held within the state to determine whether North Carolina would ratify the U.S. Constitution and the major issues raised. While the story of NC maps onto much of the same themes occurring nationally, they also have a unique context to North Carolina’s economic and political interests.
