Interpreting Services: Related Service or Supplementary Aids and Services

  • clarify that Interpreting Services can be either a related service and/or supplementary aids and services used to address a child's unique needs;
  • outline the unique needs that may require a specific service or combination of services;
  • provide essential questions to support individualized education program teams in addressing all the child's unique needs in a total school environment; and,
  • provide other technical assistance resources on this topic.

Educational Interpreter & Transliterator Evaluation Instrument

As a direct result of stakeholder engagement, an evaluation instrument was created for use with all Educational Interpreters and Transliterators across North Carolina. Use of this instrument is not required, but is rather made available as a resource.

The Utah State University TASK12 Interpreter, Mentorship, Education, & Training (IMET) Program offers a variety of independent study, self-paced, online training courses produced for sign language interpreters. The courses are designed to be completed independently on various knowledge & skill-based topics. Courses access is available until June 30, 2025.
