CAST for World Languages

Closing out at the end of July 2024 to be updated for the Installation Phase for the new state standards and policy changes

The Counselor Advising and Scheduling Tips (CAST) for World Languages mini-course is designed to guide school counselors and other course advisors in understanding North Carolina World Language programs, course codes, options, best practices, resources, etc., so that these educators can be best equipped to advise students on what courses to take to align with their future aspirations. Although this content is most relevant for middle and high school counselors, any other school personnel are welcome to participate. Please use the information and links below to access and enroll in the self-paced CAST for World Languages course.

DL/I Blue Book Study

Closing out to be archived in July 2024 but will remain available for local download in Canvas Commons for K-20 educators, as described below

This book study course focuses on Educating English Learners (ELs) for a Transformed World (2009) and Thomas and Collier's research about how their findings support DL/I programming for all students, including ELs in two-way immersion programs. Please use the information and links below to access and enroll in the self-paced DL/I Blue Book Study, and look for future offerings of book studies with other Thomas and Collier publications.

Introduction to LinguaFolio

This training focuses on how to implement LinguaFolio, a formative assessment tool for language learners, in all types of language learning programs and classrooms (DL/I, classical languages, ESL, heritage languages, modern languages, etc.). Please use the information and links below to access and enroll in the self-paced Introduction to LinguaFolio course.
