ELD Coffee Chats
The WIDA ELD Standards are the NC State Board Adopted Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) for students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the state. There is a lot to learn and explore in the 2020 edition, so the NCDPI EL Support Team will be facilitating Coffee Chats! These interactive sessions are designed to support educators as they work their way through WIDA’s six-module eLearning course entitled, The WIDA ELD Standards Framework: A Collaborative Approach (available in the WIDA Secure Portal).
The Coffee Chat sessions are designed to help educators synthesize the module materials to be used in their own educational environment through discussion, activities, and support as they learn to:
- Connect current knowledge and practices to the 2020 WIDA ELD Standards Framework
- Integrate student assets into content learning
- Make content connections to the Key Language Uses
- Identify Language Expectations
- Find opportunities to make language visible
- Use the WIDA Proficiency Level Descriptors
These sessions were offered in the fall of 2021. Educators who missed these sessions are encouraged to watch the video recordings below.
