The NCDPI LinguaFolio Team provides a variety of professional development each year. During the past few academic years, the LinguaFolio Professional Learning Series included webinars and cafés, which were 1-hour broadcasts designed for teachers and administrators of K-12 language learning programs (ESL and World Languages), as well as post-secondary instructors, professors, and researchers.

Please see the archived materials below from each broadcast (recordings, presentation slides, handouts, hyperlinks, etc.) during the 2021 - 2022 and 2020 - 2021 academic years. Feel free to use and/or adapt these resources for local professional development.

2021 - 2022 LinguaFolio Cafés

The 2021 - 2022 LinguaFolio Professional Learning Series was focused on sharing best practices about how to use LinguaFolio as a student-centered formative assessment tool aligned to North Carolina’s proficiency-based English Language Development Standards Links to an external site. and World Language Essential Standards Links to an external site.. This series also drew on the Teacher Effectiveness for Language Learning (TELL) Framework Links to an external site.and each 1-hour broadcast, whether a webinar or a discussion-based café, featured TELL criteria from one of the domains and a discussion about how teachers could use the TELL criteria and its sub-criteria to reflect on their pedagogical practices. Guest speakers from across the state and the country, who are experienced in implementing LinguaFolio, were invited to share how the various LinguaFolio components and the TELL criteria support students learning languages, K-12.
