Formative Assessment Guides Links to an external site.: (NEW) The FA guides are aligned to the 2023 Science Standards. This K-12 resource aligns the NC Science Standards with the National Science Teaching Association’s Uncovering Student Ideas series, a collection of research-based formative assessment probes. Each volume of probes contains easy-to-follow steps for uncovering and addressing students’ ideas by promoting learning through conceptual change instruction. Probes cover topics such as physical, life, and Earth and space science; the nature of science; and unifying themes. These books include teacher materials that explain content, address common misconceptions, and suggest grade-appropriate ways to present materials so students learn the concepts accurately. NAEP 2028: Links to an external site. The updated 2028 NAEP Science Assessment Framework describes the knowledge and skills students should be able to demonstrate in physical, life, and earth and space sciences in grades 4, 8, and 12. The updates reflect the most current science information and practices and keeps pace with the evolving field K-12 science instruction and assessment. |
